Keep in mind the FHA does not actually make the home
loans, the FHA insures FHA home loans. You must still apply for an
FHA loan through regular lenders, your Bank, Credit Union etc.
Owning a home is very expensive in California and
that is reflected in the statistics ranking Californians home
ownership as the 3rd lowest in the nation at 58%. If you can get a
FHA Loan in California you can literally knock hundreds of dollars
each month of a house payment that you would have to pay on a
conventional loan.
The idea is to find a home within the California FHA
Loan limits (see above), that's your starting point before you
actually seek out your home loan.
